Faith - Doctrines - Sacraments
*
The Old-Catholic Mariavite Church is a Catholic Church by its Faith, its Doctrines and its Sacraments
*
In the current language "to be catholic"means that one belongs to the Roman catholic Church. For the public opinion, it is the only Church called "catholic".
However any Church authentically Christian, which lives in accordance with the Christian Tradition has Catholicity and is, consequently, catholic.
The Old-Catholic Mariavite Church, like the Orthodoxe Church, is formed by a synodality in conformity with the practice of the first ten centuries of the Old and Undivided Church. She maintains the old constitution connected with the church according to which each Church, in a given place, under the authority of its Bishop, regularly elected and devoted, is the local expression of the Church One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic.
The Old-Catholic Mariavite Church is founded on the traditional principles of the Faith and the dogmas. These principles are contained in the Holy Scripture of Old and New Testament and in the tradition of the Universal Church and were defined by the first seven Ecumenical Councils.
The Old-Catholic Mariavite Church never established new dogmas nor accepted those established by the Churches separated after the schism of Christendom in 1054 between Roman Catholicism and Orthodoxy, since she supports that only an Ecumenical Council, i.e. a council representing Christendom in its totality, can establish a new dogma applicable to all Christendom.
The Old-Catholic Mariavite Church does not recognize the primacy of jurisdiction of only one bishop for all the Universal Church nor its infallibility in the fields of the Faith and of dogmas.
The Old-Catholic Mariavite Church recognizes the seven sacraments.
The Old-Catholic Mariavite Church received the apostolic succession of the Church Old Catholic of Utrecht (Holland) whose validity was always recognized by the Roman catholic Church.
Thus, the Catholic Church Polish National of the USA (Old-Catholic) is in intercommunion with Rome since April 1993. Application of the canon 844: reciprocity in the reception of the Sacraments of Penitence, Eucharistie and Onction of the patients for the faithful ones of the two Churches.
According to the use of the undivided Church of the first millenium, the celibacy is not imposed on the clergy. The essential is that all keep the franciscain spirit and are guided in the apostolate by the watchword of Mother Marie-Francoise: Everything for the greatest glory of God and for the honor of the Very Blessed Marie Virgin.
The purpose of the Old-Catholic Mariavite Church, founded on the Gospels, is to bring God to the men by the apostolate. She also has two principal objectives: to make known the Mercy of God (revelation made to the founder of the movement mariavite, the blessed Marie-Francoise Kozlowska, August 2, 1893) and the expansion of the worship of Our Lord Jesus-Christ present in the Very Blessed Sacrament.
The worship of the Very Blessed Sacrament in the life of faithful is expressed by the frequent reception of the Holy Communion, according to words' of Christ: "A less than you do not eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you will not have the life in you", (Jean 6.53) and by the prayer and the worship.
Each faithful is held to adore the Very Blessed Sacrament an hour per week and solemnly, jointly, once per month and to take part in the Holy Mass Sundays and feastdays. The clergy and the nuns are held with the daily worship.
The Holy Communion is given to faithful under the two species.
The auricular confession with the priest is advised with the children and teenagers. The adults also can resort to it to their own request; but especially they have the obligation to confess their sins in front of Christ and to receive the sacramental discharge by the priest.
All the services of the Ministry are free according to the command of Christ:
"You received free; give free "( Mathieu 10.8). The clergy can, however, to accept voluntary gifts for the services of the Ministry but should not require them.
Since Christmas 1906, the Holy Mass and the very whole liturgy are practised in the language of the people, with a marriage successful between the Gregorian one and and the Slavic polyphony. In France, the liturgy is celebrated in Latin and French, with also the use of the slavo-Gregorian masses made up at the beginning of the century by the Mariavites Fathers.
The Old-Catholic Mariavite Church carries the name of Marie, which imply for her members the need for imitating the life of Marie by silence, humility, the spirit of prayer, the love of neighbour and the submission to the will of God (Imitating Mariae Vita).
The Old-Catholic Mariavite Church believes that God is the single source of the miracles. She is very reserved about the relics, images of the Saints, statues, but does not reject however the deep veneration towards the religious images, the relics and the memorial of the Saints.
